We experiment with the future of liberation in today’s practices.

Shifting Power Collaborative is a Black Trans-led, relationship-centered organizational practice supporting social justice organizations to move equity, justice, and liberation into everyday relationships, decisions, structures, and culture.

We help organizations slow down, tell the truth, make meaning, move through conflict, repair hurt and harm, and shift power toward people on the margins of organizational life and society who are most impacted by the decisions being made.

What We Help Organizations Navigate

Organizations often come to us when something important needs attention, but the path forward is not yet clear.

You may be navigating conflict, change, frayed trust, unclear decision-making, values that are not yet showing up in practice, or questions about how power and privilege are shaping people’s experience of the work.

You may need a facilitated conversation, a learning experience, a repair process, a listening and sensemaking process, a retreat, or support translating equity and justice values into clearer agreements, structures, and daily practices.

Our Practice is Rooted in Relationship

We believe relationships get equity and justice done. Relationships are where people practice trust, conflict, accountability, repair, decision-making, care, and shared power.

Our work is shaped by Black feminist methods, liberation traditions, popular education, transformative justice, and the wisdom of people and communities on the margins. We help organizations build processes that move beyond input and toward meaningful participation in the decisions, structures, and practices that shape people’s lives and work.

We Are Community Collaborators

Many people would call us consultants. We call ourselves collaborators because this work is relational by design. We bring lived experience, facilitation wisdom, mediation practice, Black feminist methods, and qualitative and quantitative meaning-making to equity-centered strategy.
